Operator Mono Ligatures This project will generate new OpenType fonts for Operator Mono that includes ligatures similar to those found in the popular Fira Code font. These ligatures were custom created using Glyphs. There are even italic versions of the ligatures.

Operator Mono® is our new family of fixed-width typefaces, with a broader range of weights than a typical typewriter face, and an italic that positively shines in code. Its more editorial companion is the natural-width Operator® family, which offers the voice of typewriting but none of the compromises.

The italics adopt a unique script style that provides a stark contrast to the roman. In addition to the natural-width style, the family also includes an actual monospaced version, Operator Mono, that was designed to flourish in programming environments.

For these, you can merge two fonts, eg Operator Mono and FiraCode manually. This will add all elements that are present in FiraCode but not in Operator Mono – read: ligatures – to Operator Mono. This approach should work with all monospaced fonts where one supports ligatures and the other doesn't.

Operator Mono is the favorite font of Scotch.io founder Chris on Code. One cool takeaway for Operator Mono is that it will display code a bit differently in different contexts. For example, variable names are italicised to differentiate them from other pieces of code.
