At NYC Music Services, we've released seven new free chord symbol fonts for Sibelius. Four of the fonts are part of the Norfolk family. The other three fonts are the inaugural members of a new font family called Pori. Pori is a derivative of Petaluma, the handwritten font that first appeared in Dorico 2.0. One of the Pori fonts is something very special.

  • New Real Book Chords font annotation? | Finale Forum

I'm using the "New Real Book Chords" font for lead sheets. I don't even remember where I found it, but, boy, is it beautiful! Anyhow, the forward-slash character "/" does not space properly when used in a chord symbol. For instance, in an "F/A" chord symbol, the "/" collides with the "A." Its baseline is also too low.

Let’s compare the Real Book and the New Real Book, two of the most well-known collections of standards, used by millions and millions of musicians.

  • chord symbols using "Jazz" font set | MuseScore

Not as compact, and the line widths are a little thin for my taste, but still perfectly usable. I know there was talk about trying to incorporate the "New Real Book" font from Jochen Pietsch, and that's fairly similar looking but presumably more complete. I'm not convinced it's any better, though.

  • Leigh Verlag: Mimicking the Real Book Look

Basically, a "Real Book" is a compilation of any number of leadsheets of popular jazz tunes (see more details on the related Wikipedia page). I've been able to acquire a handful of these Real Book volumes over the years and have always been fascinated with their fun hand-written style. Some of you are familiar with my rendition of the score ...
